Chicago Tow Guys Mean Business

November 11th, 2007

alien-balloon.JPGHere I am at the computer blogging again. I am in Chicago just for one night. Then I go back home to get ready for a Tuesday show in Wisconsin. Come to think of it, Jason and I need to rehearse a couple new concepts for our show anyways.

I learned the hard way last night that you shouldn’t park your car in a Chicago parking lot when the sign reads, “Tow Zone.” Yea, I know that sounds like a stretch, but it turns out that it isn’t a joke. Walking down the road I happen to see a truck with Wisconsin license plates that shares an uncanny resemblance with mine. Who would of thought that it was mine. Small world. Thankfully the nice guys at Lincoln Towing Service gave me back the truck for only $170.00 too. This was substantially cheaper than what I paid for it the first time.

I wonder if that can be a tax right off for a performer. I’ll have to look into that one. Anyways, here is a toxic alien made from three balloons. Okay the alien isn’t really toxic; I just photo shopped it a bit to get the iridescent glow

Love, Langer, and Balloons

November 10th, 2007

love-langer-balloons.jpgThe Love and Langer Show hit the road yesterday at the crack of dawn. We had a library performer’s showcase to get to. Gosh, may we never have to wake up that early again. I guess it wouldn’t have been that bad if I would have went to bed before 2 a.m. I had a comedy show with several of my friends the night before in Milwaukee. Needless to say, it got out late. As for that showcase, it was in Menomonie, WI. Jason and I got 15 minutes to strut our stuff to librarians from all over Wisconsin. Hopefully they liked us; I guess we’ll wait and see.

The day was full of serendipity. First we bumped into a librarian that graduated with us from Northland College. Then 100 miles and 27 cups of coffee later I ran into one of my all time favorite comedians in some gas station, Dwight York. As a budding comedian, I look up to this guy; he’s hilarious!

Have a great weekend everyone. As part of my blogging, I want to start posting pictures of balloon animals that I have made.

Thanksgiving: Breaking a Myth

November 1st, 2007

thanksgiving.jpgI first came across this book while once subbing in a second grade classroom. After reading it, I realized how important this book was. Although the text may be challenging for some second graders, it is a wonderful book to read to students k-5. The book reveals the truth behind the myths that we have all grown to believe of the the first Thanksgiving.
